Waste codes · Chapter 16

16 02 13

Commercial electrical equipment with hazardous parts

This one can't go on a transfer note
Hazardous waste — it needs a consignment note.

The star on the code is what makes it hazardous. Hazardous waste moves on a consignment note, not a waste transfer note, and the carrier and the site both need to be able to take it. Our free note tool refuses these codes on purpose — putting one on a transfer note is the mistake, not the fix.

What to write on the note
16 02 13
discarded equipment containing hazardous components other than those mentioned in 16 02 09 to 16 02 12
That second line is the official List of Wastes description. Writing it out is what makes the note match the code.

Same stuff, different code

The code depends on where the load came from, not just what it is. The chapter the rest of the list has no home for — tyres, vehicle batteries and commercial equipment.
